Amanda Johnson
Mrs. Johnson is in her 16th year as a band director and her 8th year at Scurry-Rosser ISD. She was the sole band director for the district for 2 years after which the school board consented to hire a second band director for the first time in school history. Now how the program is growing!!
While Mrs. Johnson is the Head Director of the Department, she likes to focus her energy on the Middle School Band program. SR ISD is currently in search of the next Assistant Director to concentrate on the HS program. Currently Mr. Mike Hall has stepped in as a long-term substitute teacher to help Mrs. Johnson and the SR Band be successful this year. Together they are working to build on a tradition of excellence and foster an environment where students can safely explore their musical possibilities. And the possibilities are endless!!
Before coming to Scurry-Rosser, Mrs. Johnson taught in Arlington ISD at Ousley Jr. High for 6 years and in Clovis New Mexico at Clovis High School for 2 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from Utah State University and her Music Certification from Eastern New Mexico University. She is a member of Texas Bandmaster's Association, Texas Music Educator's Association and the Association of Texas Small School Bands. In her previous years at Scurry-Rosser she has seen the program grow from 80 members (6th-12th) to 170 and has seen the students in the program grow into confident musicians. The Band Directors also teach the 4th and 5th grade Music Classes.
Mrs. Johnson and her husband Marvin reside in Crandall. Their daughter Chelin is a 2nd Grader at SRES.
